Since the end of the 15th century to the present day, the Brotherhood of the Blood commemorates the passion and death of Jesus Christ, being one of the oldest in the Valencian Community and the rest of Spain. Fernando the Catholic during his reign, and in particular in 1492 he granted tax exemptions because they repopulated the Jewry of Morvedre, having been abandoned by the Jews.

The guild of linen weavers, manufacturers of cloth and fabrics from Valencia, partly occupied the Jewry, and it is believed that they could be the founders of our brotherhood.

The Jewish Synagogue, located in Sang Vella street, was the headquarters of the Brotherhood, although, due to the poor state of conservation and consequent threat of ruin, in 1601, the current chapel began to be built, about one hundred meters from the old chapel. The construction of a Valencian baroque type, with a Latin Cross plant, its four shells and freshly painted medallions, are attributed to the painter JosÈ Vergara from the Valencian school of the 18th century. The chapel is not consecrated inexplicably until 1753.

In 1992 the V centenary of the Brotherhood was celebrated and the honorary president of the commemorative acts was named his Majesty Juan Carlos I, King of Spain.

For that event, a commemorative silver medal and artisan cast was coined, as well as the publication of a book and postmark; During this year, concerts, talks were held and various events.

In the interior of the chapel is the Museum, which houses the patrimony of the Brotherhood, mainly derived from private donations: manuscripts, paintings, lithographs, books, dies, etc., as well as utensils that are part of our Holy Week.

The Brotherhood in our days is formed, approximately by 1700 cofrades, and within its organizational chart, it is composed by cofrades, mayorales and clavarios. Regy its destination apart from the General Meeting, the Board of Directors, composed by President, Vice-President, Custodian, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and five members.
