It’s 6 in the morning and Sagunt stands. The square is full of faithful who want to see the “Nazareno” leave the Chapel of the Blood, taken to the back by the outgoing mayorales. They begin the journey through the old Jewish quarter, through its narrow streets full of people. The pounding of the spears of the Sayones on the ground, the ringing of the drum, the prayers and songs (“motets”) are integrated among the people, while they are gradually climbing towards Calvary. It begins to illuminate the day, and the first rays of the sun mix between the waters of our Mediterranean Sea, illuminating the sad and painful face of the “Nazareno”, while going through the fourteen seasons of the Saguntine Calvary.
